This state-of-the-art training facility redefines the project type for Division I collegiate athletics with an innovative program and a sophisticated material palette that is exciting university benefactors, student- athletes, and staff.
The symmetrically planned building features 100% equivalent facilities for the men’s and women’s teams. Each team has a dedicated practice court, lounge, kitchenette, locker room, and video viewing room, as well as a spacious office area. The men’s and women’s teams share fitness, training, and hydrotherapy areas, and alternately use a central team dining area.
The site features an underground cistern, with no potable backup, that fully serves all site irrigation needs. Resilient design strategies include roof design and structural engineering to support the future installation of roof-top photovoltaics. The electrical infrastructure is also configured to support the future addition of on-site renewable energy and the rapid connection of roll-off emergency generators should the need arise for sheltering large numbers of community members.
